A human can think, create, and continuously learn and develope their knowledge. Where as Watson needs someone to update it's information every month, year, week, etc.
A human can learn from its mistakes while a robot cannot. If I were to burn myself on the stove when I'm young then I will know from then on that I will get hurt. A robot will continue to touch the stove until it is destroyed...
While the person recalling the things they learned, they have experience and memories that allows them to remember the things they learned. For example, I still remember about how the World War I's gun were inaccurate because my history teacher threw the marker between a girl and me to demonstrate.
A human can show compassion, have a personal opinion, and accept their own "theory of the universe" (God, Salvation etc) They can predict and think about different issues based on their own opinions etc.
A fact-based AI like Watson can only output pure data, it only thinks about factual answers.
As much as artificial intelligence has become, for lack of a better work, intelligent, it does not (yet) have the capacity for human emotion, reaction, adaptability, and perseverance.
We have a will of our own and we can differentiate between right and wrong. Humans can assume (take hints) but computers need to be programmed to do stuff directly.
A human has all the emotions that Watson doesn't have. Humans can love, hate, feel etc. Although some emotions aren't wanted most of the time, they are what make humans original.
We humans have a heart and a brain. We can think, learn, and display emotions. We can do whatever we want to do, while robots can only do what they are told to do. Robots are stupid.
A human is able to come up with ideas (normally with very little help) that can be used in many different situations. They can create art based on emotions and can read and use the new information in a different context because they understand it. Computers lack understanding (in a sense) and emotion, so they are unable to make decisions based on it. Many people will base their decisions on emotions. Like whether to help a cat out of the rain or not. The computer would base their decisions solely on logic and wouldn't even factor in the emotional aspect - meaning they might leave the cat because they don't see how that will benefit anything/one.
Humans can experience emotion, they also be creative, imagine, dream and have a strong passion. These are which Watson can not truly experience as it is a robot because these are the characteristics that defines them.
Watson may not be able to think as well as humans because it is just using its memory whereas humans are able to make connections with their memories and expand their thoughts.
Watson cannot think for himself, he can only think of what he was taught so if there was an error he would blanqly go for what he believes. Humans have common sence and machines dont

ReplyDeleteA computer will crash and burn if overloaded with information, whereas a human being can simply rest and think things over.
ReplyDeleteA multitude of information can be stored within the human mind, while a computer has a certain capacity in which it can store information.
And, much like the above commentator Slushi said, humans can learn from their mistakes. One of the essential traits in life.
